Service

9/20/2005... Crawdad Software to Help Qualitative
Researchers Improve Their Quality and Productivity
Version 1.2 of the Crawdad Text Analysis System was released Sept. 20,
2005. Crawdad software features concept mapping, full-text search,
auto-clustering, and data export. New features include the ability to
examine extremely large text collections, a fully-interactive GUI for
hierarchical clustering of texts, correlation and factor analysis of
keyword metrics, and a streamlined installation process. Go here for

3/1/2005... Crawdad Technologies, LLC won a Phase II STTR from the Air Force Office
of Scientific Research, in collaboration with
Arizona State
University. The
proposal “Centering Resonance Analysis: A superior data approach for
mining textual data streams” involves development of a Terrorism
Dashboard, which tracks and analyzes terrorism-related news from
numerous national and international media streams, including
Al-Jazeera, BBC, and Reuters. The Dashboard features the U.S. Mud Meter
(tm), which measures the tone in which the media source frames the U.S.,
and the Mayhem Meter (tm), which measures the amount of violence and
destruction in news articles concerning different parts of the globe.

12/10/2004... The Crawdad 2004 Campaign Dashboard provided an unbiased and
comprehensive analysis of presidential campaign communications from the
Bush and Kerry official web sites and blogs, updated daily. The
Dashboard used identical technology to analyze both message streams,
and provided estimates of the tone, intensity, and focus of campaign
communications, key words from each campaign, and image nets that
showed how the candidates were semantically framing themselves and the
other. Additionally, the Crawdad Mud Meter™ provided an objective
measure of political mud-slinging never available before. The Campaign
Dashboard was covered by ABC-TV, NBC-TV, PBS-TV, the New York Times,
and WBUR-Radio.


8/10/2004... Crawdad Technologies, LLC announces the release of its desktop text
analysis software, Crawdad 1.1. Crawdad 1.2 embeds their patent-pending
technology, Centering Resonance Analysis, a form of network text
analysis. Crawdad 1.1 targets analysts and research professionals who
need to analyze large amounts of unstructured data in sources such as
customer interviews, customer survey comments, focus groups, incident
and safety reports, news articles, emails, and journal articles.

Arizona State
University won a

People
Dr. Kevin Dooley is Chief Executive Officer of Crawdad. He is
co-inventor of CRA, and he earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
from the University
of Illinois in
1987. Dooley is a Professor of Supply Chain Management at the W. P.
Carey School of Business at Arizona
State University.
Prof. Dooley's research interests lie in the areas of complex human
systems. He has consulted with over 100 companies in the areas of
quality, organizational change, and innovation, including Intel,
Motorola, Raytheon, Honeywell, 3M, Citibank, and Ford.
Dr. Steven Corman is Chief Technology Officer of
Crawdad. He is co-inventor of Centering Resonance Analysis (patent
pending), a text analysis technology that underlies Crawdad’s product
offerings. Dr. Corman earned his Ph.D. in Communication Theory from the
University of Illinois in 1988, and is a Professor in the
Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State
University. His
research focuses on organizational networks, a perspective that figures
prominently in the development of CRA. He is Vice-Chair of the
Organizational Communication Division of the International
Communication Association.
Mr.
Dan Ballard is Vice President of Engineering for Crawdad. He serves as
Manager for Crawdad’s STTR projects. Mr. Ballard’s primary research
focus has been in the area of intelligent systems, knowledge-based
systems, and intelligent agents. Mr. Ballard has successfully managed
the commercialization of a number of these efforts, including
commercialization of an intelligent desktop assistant originally
developed for the Air Force. In addition, Mr. Ballard commercialized
intelligent agent technology developed for NASA. This technology is
marketed as the AgentBuilder® intelligent agent construction
toolkit, and has generated global sales.
Mr.
Dan O’Neill provides business development services for Crawdad. Mr.
O'Neill is an experienced technology entrepreneur, business developer
and entrepreneurial coach. He was co-founder and President of Hologix,
a venture backed enterprise software firm, which imported $100 million
of revenue and capital into Arizona.
In his roles as CEO of DJT Enterprises and Principal of Tech Continuum
Ventures, Mr. O'Neill delivers entrepreneurial coaching and
"strategic deal making services" to a variety of technology
and life science companies.
We
also wish to acknowledge the numerous partnerships that provide Crawdad
excellent support. The Air Force Office of Scientific Research has
provided partial funding for development of Crawdad's NLP engine. Mr.
Payam Refaeilzadeh and the ASU Software Factory have provided us with
key software engineering support over the last four years. Crawdad’s
NLP engine is facilitated by the parsing engine provided by Connexor, a
leading provider of linguistic processing software. Crawdad’s business
development has been facilitated by Sharon Ballard and ASU Technopolis,
and Crawdad owns exclusive license to all CRA-based technology through
partnership with Arizona Technology Enterprises.
